Finalists announced for Loughborough’s 2025 Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) grand final 18 June 2025 Eight outstanding Doctoral Researchers are set to take the stage in this year’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Final on Friday 20 June, where they will battle the clock - and each other - to communicate the power and impact of their research in just three minutes. Originally developed by the University of Queensland, 3MT® is a fast paced, high energy competition that challenges researchers to translate their complex work into a compelling pitch for a non-specialist audience. Over the past few months, each School has hosted its own 3MT® heats (a total of 90 Doctoral Researchers took part), and now the winners are ready to compete for the University crown. This year’s panel includes: Professor Nick Jennings, Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Steve Christie, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor - Doctoral College Ffyona Baker, Chief People Officer and Deputy Chief Operating Officer Dr Joanne Jennings, Visiting Member The 3MT® Final is the headline activity of the Summer Showcase, a full-day celebration (9.30am–4.15pm) hosted by Enhanced Academic Practice (Organisational Development and Change) on behalf of the Doctoral College. It’s a vibrant, supportive space for Doctoral Researchers to connect, share their work, and be inspired.
