Sir David Davies (032) - Electrical Isolation - Monday 14 July - Friday 8 August 2025. Potential no access to building until Monday 11 August 2025.

Posted: 7 May 2025

Description of the works

The existing age expired transformers and main switch panel are to be replaced with new equipment in order to avoid catastrophic unplanned failure of the electrical systems within the Sir David Davies Building.

Only prearranged access will be available through strict formal request via your senior management teams in the building.  They will make a request to Estates and Facilities Management if they consider your request reasonable.

All locks to external doors will be changed ahead of the works to stop access to the building during the shutdown period, this is for your safety.

During this time, there will be no general lighting or power.  Please ensure fridges and freezers have been emptied of food.

Fire alarms will be operational throughout the shutdown, however, no-one should attend the building during this time.  Escape routes may not be maintained, so any authorised visitors should be aware of their escape options.

I thank you all in advance for your cooperation during these works.  We have considered all options and best dates to cause the least impact on University operations.  If you have any concerns, please contact Ian Litchfield.

Timescale

Works to be carried out from 14 July - 8 August 2025, with a possible extension to Monday 11 August 2025.
